In Torino, the venue of the next Winter Universiade, the Heads of Delegation meeting took place in Torino from September 11th to 13th, 2006. The purpose of the meeting was to check how the venue preparation is going on as regards both the structures in Torino and the mountain venues.

Torino Inspection Visit

The delegates visited Bardonecchia, Cesana San Sicario e Pragelato and Torino's ice stadiums (Palaolimpico, Tazzoli, Palavela e Oval), Torre Pellice and Pinerolo. Among them was also the delegation from Maribor, the bidding city for the Winter Universiade 2011.

Mr Otmar Kugovnik, SUSA President, Mr Bozidar Pucnik, SUSA Vice President, Mr Matjaz Pecovnik, SUSA Secretary General, and Mr Boris Sovic, the Mayor of Maribor, also met Mr George Killian, FISU President and Mr Eric Saintrond, General Director of FISU.

Torino Slovenian Delegation

They took opportunity to talk with other FISU authorities as well as the people from the Organising Committee Torino 2007. Two experts, Peter Sitar from University of Maribor and Marko Rataj, Vice President of the Pohorje Ski Centre, observed the facilities and preparations of Torino Organising Committee. During stay in Torino, delegates from Slovenia also had a stand with promotional material of Slovenia and Maribor. On the last day of their stay, the delegation met with Mrs. Mercedes Breso, governor of the region.
