The fourth day of the FISU evaluation visit, the delegation was received by the Rector of the University of Maribor Ivan Rozman. He said he was very happy with the inspection visit in Maribor, and stressed the importance of Universiade at development of Maribor and other Slovenian Universities.

 

 

The Vice-Rector Dušan Radonjič presented the organisation of the University of Maribor, and pointed out the importance of sports at the University. The guests saw many advantages for the Slovenian students in organised sports activities.

 

 

At the press conference, held at the Rector’s Office, the speakers – Mr Ivan Rozman, the Rector of the University of Maribor; Mr Boris Sovič, the current Mayor of Maribor; Mr Franc Kangler, the newly elected Mayor of Maribor; Mr Otmar Kugovnik, the President of SUSA, and Mr Roch Campana, FISU Secretary General – all expressed their satisfaction with the evaluation visit. It was added, that the final decision will be made on January 16, 2007 at the 23rd Winter Universiade in Torino. Mr Franc Kangler, the new Mayor of the University City of Maribor, emphasised that he will take over the Universiade 2011 project with full responsibility and dedication, and continue to pursue this goal.

 

 

In the afternoon, the guests attended a special event – Salutation to the Universiade from the Lent Festival at the Liberty Square, and a cultural event Sports and Culture in Kazina Hall.

 

 

With today's programme, the official FISU evaluation delegation visit concluded. The delegation members are leaving tomorrow.
