International University Sport Federation (FISU) and the European University Sports Association (EUSA) both have their own university sport championships, respectively.

The World University Championships, run under FISU, have already started in early March 2008. 32 WUCs are taking place this year all around the globe. Slovenian University Sports Association (SUSA) is sending their students to some of the championships: Archery, Beach volleyball, Flatwater, Futsal (men), Golf, Karate, Rowing, Wildwater and Wrestling. We are also hosting a championship this year ourselves - the 11th World University Futsal Championship for men. The WUC Futsal is to take place in Koper, Slovenia from August 24 to 31, 2008.

The European Universities Championships, run under EUSA, will start later on in the month. This year, 11 EUCs will take place in Europe. Slovenian student athletes will attend six of the championships: Basketball, Beach volleyball, Futsal, Handball, Volleyball and Tennis. In 2009, SUSA will organise the 4th European Universities Handball Championship in Ljubljana.
