The 30th FISU General Assembly took place in Bangkok, Thailand on August 5 and 6, 2007, just before the beginning of the 24th Summer Universiade which starts tomorrow, and just after the Executive Committee Meeting, which took place from August 2 to 4.
During the General Assembly, the representatives of the Member Associations listened and approved the reports of the President, Secretary-General, Treasurer, Auditor and the strategic review of the Challenge 21 Group.
The General Assembly also accepted three new Member Associations bringing the total number of FISU members to 144: Bhutan (BHU), Dutch Antilles (AHO) and Montenegro (MNE).
The Local Organising Committees of the future Summer Universiades, Belgrade 2009 and Shenzhen 2011, as well as the future Winter Universiades, Harbin 2009 and Erzurum 2011, presented their progress reports to the Assembly as well as the final report of the 2007 Winter Universiade in Torino.

Potential bidding cities for the Winter and Summer universiades 2013 were also present, and unoficially announced their interest for biddig. Among them, Slovenian University Sports Association presented the interest to bid for the 26th Winter Universiade 2013 in Maribor.
At the General Assembly, the election of the new Executive Committee for the period 2007-2011 also took place. The new Executive Committee is composed of members elected by the General Assembly of FISU and by the Presidents of the Continental Organisations having the status of Associate Member of the FISU. Out of 69 candidates, the new Executive Committee was elected.
